a few white knuckled rides later and she's doing much better. Not good enough to go on the freeway yet, but good enough around town and to work and church.
She's catching on quickly and should be safe to drive to school in a few weeks!

H is 15 and learning. She does great, but is on me to teach her how to drive the truck (stick). Understand the white knuckles
Wow-we are at different stages of parenting! I can't imagine on of my kids driving. you are brave.
I had a boyfriend when I was 15 who had a stick shift. For his amuusemnt he would let me drive his car around his neighborhood (I was so bad at it and he thought it was hilarious). Well, I learned and then when I hopped in the car with my mom the first time and could instantly drive a stick, she knew something was up! :)
Sure saved a lot of wear and tear on their clutch though!
I drove a stick shift for the first 10 years of driving! I love automatic, but am so glad I can drive both. Good for her:)
This is good! I never learned to drive a stick because we never had one. I would be useless on one!
You go S stick is fun i learnedon the column on the ice covered hills of BYU
Ah, driving stick shift is fun!
That's fun that she is learning so quickly. It will be a skill that will come in handy the rest of her life. Plus, like Mel said, it's fun! :D
She'll get it!
If I figured it out, she'll definitely figure it out. I was horrible at 1st!
I am ashamed to say that I taught myself how to drive a stick shift when my parents went out of town for a week and left me home alone (I was 19). They had tried to hide their car keys so I wouldn't use their cars, but I found the keys to my dad's Firebird and jerkily tooled around town the entire week. By the end of the week, I was a pro and was even able to park my dad's car in the garage backwards the way he did in hopes that he wouldn't figure it out. He did though.
