We decided that since it was such a lovely afternoon and not that hot yet (for TX~ only 97 and there is a nice breeze) that we would go check out a new park near our home.
Last weekend the young women told me about this park that opened up less than 10 minutes from our house where they had gone hiking. They said it was "SO Great!". So when DH got home from his meetings we loaded up the kids and went.
When we got there everyone had to go to the bathroom so that was our first stop. (after all we did drive for a whole 10 minutes) E didn't want to use the outhouse, so his manly father encouraged him to use a bush, however he neglected to warn him to pee upwind (remember the breeze?). Our next stop was back at the car where we dug out baby wipes and magic soap to wash hands, legs and shoes.
Finally we were off. Everyone wearing proper foot wear.
And oh so enthusiastic about walking through the brush.

We got a half mile or so when the boys had gotten way ahead and the girls were hanging on me and crying.
H and I took turns caring G but even that didn't go well so we turned around and headed back to the parking lot.
Once there we were able to salvage the afternoon. We climbed the poles around the picnic tables. Drank cold water from the drinking facet, looked at the pretty flowers and sat around talking to each other.

well is that an unusual outing? sounds pretty normal plans -- potty --sore feet---baby wipes---heat --cranky -- Oh that will be a story he will tell later or his sisters will:)--Cute pic of you two the shirt looks good--how about the others?
Oh and that last shot looks like S
Wow I never thought I'd say I want to move to Texas to get out of the heat. It was 99 yesterday here with a heat index of 115. Pretty much means we're not going outside unless it's to walk to the AC car.
Gee. Sounds like fun. LOL.
Glad you were able to salvage the trip. I still need to go and check out that park.
Whats funny is we had almost the EXACT same experience at that park. I was wearing flip flops and had taken an umbrella stroller for Mya...anyone who knows what the terrain is like at that park should be laughing at this point. Oh the things we do to get the kids out and active right?

hot, tired, thirsty, grumpy kids!
Our walk was SO fun!!
Yeah, sounds about like an outing we would have. I am not looking forward to the Texas weather next week. Almost 100 degrees already? We are going to roast. No hikes for us. Only air conditioned activities!
That sounds a lot like some of OUR family outings :-)
