and apparently we are idiots. Yesterday we voted. And we elected a new president. One who wants "to write a new chapter in American History."
We voted to legislate sin.
Weaken our military.
Send our economy spiraling down the toilet.
Spike the cost of fuel and cut American jobs.
Shake the foundation of democracy (and upgrade it to what?? socialism?)
but at least we see that affirmative action has worked and there is no more glass ceiling for people of any color.
update:
dear JustMe,
I wondered a bit when I wrote that last sentence if it sounded that way. But no, I am not 'a bit racist.' The idea is actually not even my own. I woke up this morning and turned on the news to see if he had really won, and yep he did. The news casters, social commentators were discussing this very thing. How wonderful it was that now the glass ceiling has been broken and a black man has reached the highest office. I did not base my vote on the color of either candidates skin. My family is a rainbow and I love it that way, but even if it wasn't I try and look at the content of a person's character and not the color of their skin. His character causes me great worry, his skin not a bit.

I guess that's what happens when we have the privilege of voting. Hopefully things will not be as bad as everyone thinks--we'll keep praying.
Thank you...for saying what I could not put into words. All we can do now is pray.

I'm anxious to see how things will change. I'm interested to see if these problems that have been so-long blamed on Republicans still can't be fixed because it's really everyone's problems.
"but at least we see that affirmative action has worked and there is no more glass ceiling for people of any color."
A little racist?
ays it better than I could (and it's good to listen to other news besides Fox):

I love that - "apparently we are idiots." Too bad there's not another country we can flee to, like the Pilgrims did!
Good for you, for writing actual posts about what you're thankful for!! =)
Great post. I appreciate it. I can't wait to see Dani
I knew you were not racist--I would have voted for the right candidate, no matter what the color of his/her skin.
We're not racist. I ache for a black president, or a female one, or both. I just happen to believe him at his word, which is that he will tax my family, take away my "Bush Tax Cuts", which he says on one hand were only for the rich, and in the same talking point, says that McCain opposed them and therefore opposed "middle class tax cuts". Does anyone else realize that he contracted himself there? Were the Bush tax cuts for the middle class or weren't they? Well, I know that when he lets them expire, my taxes will go up tremendously, so it feels to me like I got a tax cut, which Sugar Daddy is taking away (to give away to people who don't pay taxes). I believe him when he says he will bankrupt the coal industry, and when he says that he will make electricity costs skyrocket. Read: Depression.
Now, I know that he talks out of both sides of his mouth, and I know that it was just a campaign, so hopefully he will govern from the middle, but I don't have any record to make me believe that will happen. Especially when Pelosi/Reid bring him a bill with a bunch of lefty stuff in it, along with a healthy dose of earmarks to ensure they can get reelected in their states, I doubt that Sugar Daddy will be able to stand up to them and tell them "no".
I hope I am wrong. I pray that I am wrong.
So it is not his race, it's his words that worry us. In this case, I hope that he was lying.
May God bless Obama and the United States.

I don't really care what color he is. That did not come into why I voted for him at all. I don't think everyone who voted for him is an idiot (obviously.)
It has been a strange series of events...I find myself wondering the same things...it will be interesting to see what comes of our new oval office!
