This morning we headed out bright and early to the balloon festival. We had to be there before 6:30am. When my alarm went off I had some serious doubts about whether it would be worth it, however, it really was neat.
We got to watch them being blown up. It was so fun to see them lying flat on the grass and then to fill and eventually to pull their baskets upright and be ready to fly.
After the all took off there were targets and helium
balloons tied to long lines. The hot air balloons would take turns flying by and dropping bean bags onto the target. They could also try and hook a line with helium balloons on it and they would get points for how many they popped.
Lucy was scared of the fire. We were close enough to feel the heat coming off the flame. It was pretty neat.
Some of the
balloons threw candy at the kids as they rose in the air.
After we went to
Krispe Kreme where the kids loved watching the donuts be made, and eating them. Hot from the oven and into your stomach is melt in your mouth yummy!
