It's feeling a bit more like fall around here. Pool season is definitely over and the kids wear sweaters in the morning while waiting for the bus.
Yesterday it rained, and unfortunately S left her car windows open over night so she had a soggy ride to school :(
We went to feed Renaldo yesterday and the white, ugly, goat in the next pen was being fed too. We had never seen his person before. It was a boy, a senior, so I chatted with him, asked the goat's name (Gremlin~ figures, he is an ugly goat) H was lifting the goat food into the can and he reached over and helped her, the boy not the goat :). Finally he said to me "do you have an older daughter?" yes. "Is her name S?" yes. "I thought so I'm Jay _____, we were in 3rd grade together!" Jay! I would have never recognized you, you're all grown up blah blah blah (the usual things grown ups say). I was so surprised he recognized me, and at what a nice young many he grew into. He got into a bit of trouble in 3rd grade :)
For FHE we decided to go to CiCi's Pizza, brother's favorite. J didn't come, she "doesn't like to eat from the trough" but the rest of us had a fun time. The kids love the pizza and they actually have salad that isn't bad so I had two plates of salad and only a little pizza (WW remember?)
Then we came home and gathered upstairs for our lesson. We watched Elder Holland's talk from conference. It was about the ministering of angels in our lives. Lu was a little noisy but everyone else was really paying attention and you could feel the calm and peaceful feeling that comes with the witness of the Holy Ghost. The kids particularly enjoyed the story he told about his friend when we was a boy of only 7 and in danger. They listened very attentively. After we spoke of our feelings and the promise of the protection of angels in our lives, and the things we need to do to enjoy that blessing. It was a good lesson as we had the opportunity to share with each other instances when we felt like we had angelic help and we urged the children to remember the testimony of an apostle, and of their parents, and always live in such a way that they can have peace in the hearts, and help when they need it.

That was one of my favorite talks from conference.
I can only handle CiCi's about once every six months or so. Just seeing all those people with all that pizza tends to gross me out a bit. ;o) But the kids LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Naturally.
haven't been forced into Cici 's in years but I do kinda like it what a good FHE That was also one of my favorite talks from conference
I LOVE Cici's!! I love that talk even more!! What a GREAT FHE!!!
I wish we had Cici's!!!
That's a great FHE idea. If my kids were a bit older we might be able to steal it! Ah well, maybe in a couple years. I love all the new ability to re-watch talks and such they have on the web now!
Great idea for a FHE. (You are such a great mom)
(I can't wait to listen to that talk--I have heard it was a great one.)
